Sal has created hundreds of
drawings during her career. Some were
used as figurative studies, some as the basis for
paintings, and others as standalone art works.

One of Sal's favorite art activities is drawing. The
Drawings Collection contains a
representative sample of her drawing work. She will be
adding others over time so please check back

Earth Goddess Series
- 1998-2004: Tiles of
Figures in Motion
Strom's
Earth Goddess series was created on
4" and 6" standard tiles. She begins much the same way
as she begins her paintings. Strom builds up layers of
glazes for the background texture to create a foundation
all else is built on. After applying the abstract
technique which incorporates textures; old lace, leaves,
the movement of a feather, splatter's of emotions; she
then freezes the dancer in motion. Using the abstract
expressionist “push pull” technique she
repeatedly adds and subtracts glazes.
The tiles are meant to be a border in a room
that releases positive energy of our spirit, bringing forth
a heightened awareness of our physical, creative, and
sensual self. Strom is continually interested in the
gesture of the body- the expression and movement of the
figure in an energized spiral of line and color, capturing
a positive flow in life.
