Sal is currently in the second year of a 2-year, low-residency Master of Fine Arts program. As part of her Master's program she is developing an edutainment presence known as Nurse Nirvana Institute or NNI. The Institute will provide a forum for diversity, acceptance, and exploration of our differences. Through paintings, digital still art, and video NNI will educate and inform, seeking to create dialogs aimed at bringing society closer together.
She has already developed a wide variety of digital art based on natural beauty. Her digitally enhanced images of female models emphasize the beauty Nature has given the model, unaltered by a surgeon trying to make her more "beautiful." The most recent of these works are in Sal's Digina, Fluers-de-gina, and Ginaglyph Series.
One of Sal's most ambitious works for NNI will be a video based on the writings of artist Lucy Lippard. Called Gerund, the video will be comprised of six scenes depicting the life of a fictional character, based loosely on the life of the artist. Check back periodically as Sal will be posting parts of Gerund as she completes them.
